Dry Brushing

Looking for an everyday wellness practice that will make you feel GOOD? Dry brushing is the way to go! This self-care practice is so easy and can bring many health benefits.

It is pretty simple, buy yourself a dry brush (I went for this one) and brush yourself before showering. There is a specific way to brush to obtain the maximum benefits of this practice. Start with your feet and go up on your legs, then stomach, hands, arms and chest, the goal is to brush toward the heart. Dedicate at least 5 minutes.

What are the main effects of dry brushing?

1. Stimulate your lymphatic system. Your lymphatic system is a network of tissues and organs that help your body get rid of toxins. Its primary function is to transport lymph, a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells, throughout the body*. When dry brushing you stimulate the lymph flow within the body and help your body detoxify. It also improves your immunity system.

2. Boost your energy. That's why I recommend to do this in the morning. Dry brushing improves your circulation and the appearance of cellulite. I also find that dry brushing is a natural stress relief, sort of a daily massage to yourself.

3. Exfoliate your skin. You will definitely find your skin softer after dry brushing since it sweeps away dead skins. Your brushing has to be firm but not too harsh otherwise it will break down the skin’s protective layer.
